Austin Wulliman (violin) and Chris Wild (cello) met at the University of Michigan, where they both obtained undergraduate degrees in music performance. Together as Wild and Wulliman, they gave their debut recital at Kerrytown Concert House (Ann Arbor, MI) in the spring of 2007 and have since held performances and residencies across the United States. The duo is experienced in a variety of musical styles, having performed folk, classical and contemporary music and improvised on stage multiple times. Their interest in new music has led them to commission pieces by Marcos Balter, Kirsten Broberg, Eliza Brown, Chris Fisher Lochhead, Shawn Jaeger and Dave Reminick; they have also collaborated with composers Lee Hyla and Augusta Read Thomas, pianist Matthew McCright and DJ The Abominable Twitch. Wild and Wulliman recently premiered the interdisciplinary music theater project A Day in Chicago, for which they were awarded a Community Arts Assistance Grant from the City of Chicago. Currently based in Chicago, they are also members of ensemble dal niente.
Successful performers in their own right, Austin and Chris have won individual awards from the Fischoff Chamber Music Association, National Arts Centre of Canada, Canadian Music Competition and the University of Michigan. Festival appearances of theirs include Aldeburgh (England), Darmstadt (Germany), Lucerne (Switzerland), Banff (Alberta), Domaine Forget (Quebec), Aspen (Colorado), Brevard (North Carolina) and Meadowmount (New York).
